What is the VOC Sponsorship Program?
The VOC sponsorship program is a program that allows you to donate funds directly to the CPOD schools in Hinche, Haiti.
These schools provide education to over 600 students.
By sponsoring CPOD school, you help pay for student's uniforms, textbooks, supplies, and teachers’ wages.
How will my sponsorship benefit the students?
Sponsorship is one of the greatest gifts you can give to the students in CPOD school. Due to the extreme poverty of the area many of the students cannot afford to start elementary school until they are teens or young adults. Consequently, students at the school range in age from children to adults. At CPOD, Pastor Lavaud offers many opportunities to families who cannot afford the needed school supplies and tuition on their own. Students experience joy in the classroom, develop friendships and community relationships that last a lifetime, and bring a new level of skills, sufficiency and responsibility to the local workforce. Your sponsorship allows Pastor Lavaud to serve more students and families in the Hinche community, providing hope and opportunity to individuals, families, and the community.
How will my sponsorship benefit the Teachers?
Teachers are very hard to find, as many lack formal education, and the government pays public teachers much higher. There are 35 teachers on staff. Salaries range from $100 to $400 US a month per teacher. Though the teachers have families to provide for, they have continued to serve faithfully, many with no pay for extended periods of time. That's where we come in.
How will the money be spent?
By sponsoring the CPOD school, you will be helping to pay the teachers’ salaries, purchase student uniforms, school supplies, and fund other school costs, such as benches, blackboards, and facilities upkeep. Students sit on bench style desks, that need to be replaced and maintained regularly. Classrooms have limited blackboards, some classrooms use the walls to write on instead. Many of the funds sent not only benefit the sponsored student, but also benefit other students in the school as well.
What does it cost to sponsor?
Monthly sponsorships are $25.00 a month and you may choose to pay monthly, quarterly, or in one yearly sum. Further support for supplies and facilities can be specified in one-time donations, or in additional monthly amounts.
